UT Tyler's clinical policy puts site selection in the student's hands, with faculty approval, and its NP application even asks how you plan to secure preceptors. Once you have a willing preceptor, the Self-Placement Request, the preceptor's online agreement, faculty review and the Clinical Coordinator's checks follow, and a new facility also needs a signed affiliation agreement.

We start at the first step, which is the hardest one. We look for a Texas-licensed NP, physician or PA whose practice suits the course in front of you, whether that is pediatrics in NURS 5453, adult and geriatric care in NURS 5455 or psychiatric care in NURS 5367, confirm they clear UT Tyler's rules on supervisors, relatives and licenses, and give you every detail the request needs. Does UT Tyler find preceptors for nurse practitioner students?

UT Tyler's clinical policy has graduate students choose their clinical sites with their instructor's approval, and NP students file a Self-Placement Request with their preceptor's details. Faculty coordinate and approve, and the Clinical Coordinator clears each site. We do the finding for you.

What exactly do you do for a UT Tyler student?

We find Texas preceptors near you who fit your UT Tyler course, confirm they meet the license, supervisor and relative rules, and prepare what the Self-Placement Request and Preceptor Agreement need. If a preceptor steps away, a replacement search starts right away.

Who approves the preceptor you find?

UT Tyler does. Faculty approve the preceptor and site, and the Clinical Coordinator verifies them and any affiliation agreement before you start. Hours completed before approval do not count, so an early, complete request matters.

Can I do UT Tyler NP clinicals outside Texas?
